I focused on one big books for shared reading every week of practicum 3.

A big book is read repeatedly for the entire week. On the first day the text is introduced and the students had it read it aloud to them, focusing on literacy learning intention of the week. Later on in the week, the students join in with group reading out-loud.

Different aspect of the book are explored. For example, punctuation, exclamations and narrative components. The big book reading is a warm-up activity for literacy and settles the students after lunch.
